Immersive Audio Experience
Belly up to the bar - the ice bar, that is - in the Immersive Audio Experience at InfoComm 08, and discover how an immersive environment with a tightly focused design can enhance the satisfaction levels of guests, customers and anyone who enters the space. A higher overall quality experience induces people to stay longer and spend more money during their stay: So goes the core wisdom behind "theming" the retail or leisure environment.
Technology and acoustic design engineers Thorburn Associates (TA) and Frederick Ampel, President and Principal of Technology Visions, want InfoComm delegates to experience the difference for themselves, and have teamed up to offer the Immersive Audio Experience (IAE) in exhibit booth #C5656 at the popular technology trade show exhibition, June 18-20 in Las Vegas.
"The array of technologies and products available today gives us all the tools we need to create compelling, people-pleasing environments," says Steven J. Thorburn PE, CTS-D, CTS-I, principal of Thorburn Associates. "Seamless audio experiences such as we are demonstrating here are well within the scope of most building budgets. It's a matter of knowing how to choose them and how to use them, which is the role of audiovisual design."
"A truly enveloping audio experience matched with carefully produced visuals will help drive sales, and showcase products," says Ampel. "We're defining the concept of using multichannel audio to augment state-of-the-art video and careful acoustic design to create a unique guest experience."
The Immersive Audio Experience will offer two multi-channel audio rooms, one done up as a chic, modern ice bar, and the other as a hip retail space. Both rooms are equipped with flat panel displays and lighting for demonstrating techniques to coordinate digital signage and video content, supported by audio and effects.
Technology Visions is providing audio and event production for the Immersive Audio Experience. Thorburn Associates is providing audiovisual system design. Quantum Theory is audio producer. Other companies supplying equipment and services are: Audio-Technica, Biamp, Crestron, Extron, Lab Gruppen, Middle Atlantic Products Inc., Omnivex, Pioneer, Rocking M Coding & Design Co., Sony, Stealth Acoustics, Tannoy, QSC, Westinghouse, Wohler and XYZ Audiovisual.
